Our approach to news reporting:

1. Keep it short and simple.
News updates should be read in under 1min. Anyone that needs further info can deep-dive later.

2. UI should be clean.
The whole idea is for users to read the damn article. Colour combos should be easy on the eyes, no distractions, use images and illustrations with caution.

3. Always include data
Few care about opinions, most want to see the data. More numbers and charts, no long opinionated sentences.
