Bitcoin network successfully completes fourth halving event

On Friday afternoon, the Bitcoin network created it's 840,000th block completing the fourth halving event. This programmed reduction is an important step in Bitcoin's digital scarcity.

The number of coins currently in circulation are more than 19.6 million representing 93.75% of it's total supply. Halvings are expected to occur roughly every four years until the last one takes place sometime in the mid-22nd century.
